After the first two successful editions, Bamako is preparing to host, from November 29th to December 5th, 2011, the 3rd African conference on irrigation and drainage under the theme "Food Security and Climate Change: how to improve the contribution of irrigation”. This conference will be coupled with the 3rd African Exhibition of Irrigation and Drainage (SAFID) organized by the African Regional Association of Irrigation and Drainage (ARID).
Irrigation is an assurance of income for many farmers, especially in poor countries. This importance has never been denied throughout the years. However, a current problem is that climate change. Indeed, it is undeniable that the Climate change has an impact on irrigation. Therefore it is important to investigate How to reduce these effects? What are the ways to enable for irrigation to play a bigger role in food security without causing adverse impacts for the environment?
So many questions that the conference aims to answer through interventions and contributions of many experts coming from Worldwide. The pleasure is for us to welcome you to the 3rd African Conference on irrigation and drainage, and this third edition of SAFID.
